Francis Krainock is the son of a hot-headed, former Jew turned Japanese Buddhist and a lapsed catholic mother who is rumored to have inherited the powers of a long line of Irish witches. He watched his father chant the lotus sutra every night and heard his mom describe premonitions in her dreams. Fascinated with religion, stories, and the all-encompassing power of belief, Francis first attempted fiction, stand-up comedy, and screenwriting in college before realizing he had nothing to say. Rather than chase success for its own sake, he decided to live as many lives as possible. Since then, he has been everything from a butcher to a Japanese garden educator to an exporter advising the US Military on what HVAC system would work best in a nuclear missile silo. He hasn’t found nirvana, but now he’s got too much to say and is desperately trying to narrow his voice down.
